Lucille Atkins

I am a jewellery designer and sculptor with a strong commitment to sustainable practice.

My aim is to create work that uses existing materials in order to lessen the environmental degradation and human exploitation that often accompanies the extraction of resources. I use art as a vehicle for political expression to encourage viewers to question their own actions.

As an avid collector and forager I use a range of materials to create jewellery that is 100% recycled (where possible). My sculptural installations have also been driven by this goal. My workshop is set up to create as small a footprint on the environment as possible.

If others appreciate the beauty, along with the political messaging contained within my work, then the challenges that I explore and overcome by using discarded materials will be validated.
