Jacky Overington

In 1999 in Brisbane I walked underneath the Sandgate Town Hall via a wonky side door.  Down in that Dungeon room I found passionate potters who gave community clay lessons for $2 an evening. I went down there once a week with my young daughter. I was hooked and my learning commenced from there.   

 

My art leans towards the world of animals, birds, plants and observations of the earth we live on. I wish for Australian animals, waterways and forests to be safe from all harm. I hope that we humans learn to love, respect and protect nature before it is too late to save it.   

 

Today, I feel very fortunate to have met and made friends with fellow artists of the Iluka Emporium. My partner Tim has built for me, a beautiful pottery studio in Iluka where I can create and teach others the joy of clay. I believe in sharing, giving, co-operating and learning.
