Linda Frylink Anderson

The name ‘Scribbling Barefoot’ came about when I had my first solo exhibition, not long after I returned from sailing around the world.

I draw and paint from life capturing the moment as I sees it. Travelling provides rich inspiration for my art making. I use a variety of mediums to paint and draw the human form, worldscapes, animals and birds. The real world rather than imaginary.

I have published two books which combine my sailing adventures and artwork: Sailing in my Sarong, Around the World – a 30-year dream

and Salvage in my Sarong, The Mediterranean Dream in a rescued boat.

Recently I began creating whimsical pique assiette mosaics using recycled materials such as China, old jewellery, glass, mirrors and interesting collectibles.

Facilitating Life Drawing groups gives me much joy observing and interacting with the artists and the model. I endeavour to create an environment that is relaxed and conducive for anyone to have a go regardless of experience.

My Story

Art is my passion. I studied Visual Communications at the Canberra School of Art many years ago. This included painting, drawing and developing/ printing my own photography. Travel beckoned with the love of my life, so I did not finish my Art degree. However, after having children, I returned to university to study Education specialising in Early Childhood.

I enjoyed the autonomy of being a Kindergarten Director for 2 decades encouraging children to be creative thinkers. This led to teaching Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast until I moved to northern NSW in 2015.

Fulfilling my lifelong dream, I am now a full-time artist enjoying the membership of a community Gallery at the Iluka Emporium. I was honoured to present at International Writers Festivals in Byron Bay and Ubud, Bali, International Boat Shows and at the inaugural Women Who Sail Australia Gathering.

Art Exhibitions include galleries in South East Queensland, Northern NSW, Mauritius, US Virgin Islands and New York.
